Studio is Reach Engine’s on-site software application that provides end-to-end video management for media organizations of all sizes.
From ingest through archiving and every function in between, Studio is the most progressive video solution in the marketplace.
Studio Enterprise 1.2 Features Include:
The Reach Engine Workflow Engine is the heart of the system and is responsible for all major operations from ingest through delivery of content. Reach Engine allows custom workflows to be created to override default functionality or expand on the functionality of the system. Custom workflows have access to the entire Reach Engine model, from working with assets through updating and saving metadata.
The Reach Engine API allows access to all Reach Engine functionality, including the ability to create metadata, update media and data, and trigger workflows. The API provides status and progress of all operations. The API is available in both JSON and XML formats.
Reach Engine provides a scheduling system, allowing workflows to be triggered at regular intervals without user interaction.
Reach Engine allows for efficient, scalable, and robust searching mechanisms through the web interface and API. All custom metadata properties can be searched on, and sorted, grouped functions, and have count operations performed on, to allow for advanced controls over search operations.
Customization and Integration
Reach Engine can be customized through Workflow and API Integration. Custom workflows can be created for Ingest operations, as well as Clip, Asset, or Project operations. Custom workflows can be triggered via hotfolder, user actions from the User Interface, or scheduled timers.
The Reach Engine API is a RESTful implementation of Reach Engine functionality available via standardized XML or JSON endpoints. By integrating with the Reach Engine API, existing systems can exchange data with Reach Engine, or completely custom applications can be developed that take full advantage of Reach Engine core functionality and workflows.
Web Based User Interface
Reach Engine is accessible from a web based interface, allowing users to view and work with content from anywhere in the world. The web interface streams proxies of Reach Engine managed content.
The Reach Engine Web Interface allows users to log clips and metadata on streaming proxy files. This information is stored in the database based on Timecode values, seamlessly translating between all derivatives of a piece of content.
Reach Engine provides integration with Final Cut 7, Final Cut X, and Adobe Premiere. Users can check in and check out Project files, and track media usage across projects. Advanced NLE integration is available for Final Cut and Premiere, allowing users to rough cut based on proxies and translate their projects to source or mezzanine versions of the content.
Reach Engine allows users to organize their content into Collections. Collections can be shared with Users and Roles in the system, providing collaboration and segregation of content. Collections can be converted to Project Bins, and can be integrated with external systems such as Web CMS playlists via the Reach Engine API.
Reach Engine provides folder scanning services for hotfolder triggering of workflows as well as migration of existing content repositories. Existing folder structures can be left in tact or content may be moved into a Reach Engine managed location.
Reach Engine allows users to build a completely custom Metadata structure of properties and groups. Metadata Properties are structured and typed and provide storage for pick-lists, dates, numbers, and text. Metadata can be applied to most Reach Engine concepts such as Projects, Assets, and Clips.
Access Control – Users and Roles
The Reach Engine security model allows Roles to be defined and for Permissions to be granted to those Roles. Permissions exist for every action in the system, from creating Metadata through triggering export workflows on Projects. Through the use of Roles, admins of the system can fine-tune what access is granted to collections of content, and what workflows can be taken on that content.
Content Categories apply to all content stored in Reach Engine and allow for high level buckets to be created and isolated from other content in the system. Roles are granted access to specific categories, controlling which users are able to log in and view or act on certain categories of content.
Reach Engine integrates directly via API with major transcoding utilities such as Telestream Episode Engine and FlipFactory.
Multi-Tier Storage Management
Reach Engine provides media movement and tracking capabilities to always know where all versions of an asset currently live. Through integration with StorNext and StorageManager, additional optimizations and Partial File Restore workflows are possible.
Reach Engine Stage Integration
Reach Engine Studio Pro seamlessly integrates with the Reach Engine Stage cloud platform allowing for remote Review and Approve, shopping cart delivery services, multi site synchronization, and global federated search.
Studio clients include major sports organizations, broadcast and cable networks, specialty video publishers and educational and faith-based institutions.
