OVERVIEW
Levels Beyond is a Denver-based software development company focused on digital video acquisition, management, and workflow. 2011 has gotten off to a fantastic start and we are ready to expand our outstanding staff. Specifically, we are looking for someone to fulfill a Lead Developer position.
THE COMPANY
Levels Beyond is a "compact" software company that has been around since 2003. We have 8 years of stability as a custom software services company, but have more recently developed a set of software that has struck a real chord in the digital video management space. We have assembled a licensed platform, Reach Engine, that provides us with the capability to implement custom video management software in very short timeframes. As a company, we pride ourselves on the creativity, innovation, and responsiveness of our people and software, and that attitude is helping us gain incredible traction in a huge cross-section of the professional video world, including content creation, broadcast, live event, and even enterprise. WHAT WE NEED
We need more developers! We're growing at a great pace and need great talent and fresh ideas.
This position is specifically for a User Interface Developer responsible for implementing applications built on our Reach Engine platform. Responsibilities include:
- Solution design and code implementation
- Development in Adobe Flex/Air as well as HTML5/Javascript/Mobile
- Ability to quickly grok and contribute to a growing shared framework
- Motivation and willingness to push the limits of software
- Code version management
- Troubleshooting/bug fixing
- Informal documentation/code commenting
SPECIFICS
We require that you have..
- At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent education.
- Ability to succeede in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. The very idea of an "easy" job must bore you to tears.
- Serious problem solving skills. It's become our calling card-- we solve the problems others can't. Whether it’s debugging code, reading between the lines in the logs, or devising and implementing a customer solution overnight, you will be counted on to be clever.
- Confidence and humility. You want to be a respected developer and leader and know that it requires both traits to be successful.
- Commitment to the job and the company. Don't expect 40-hour work weeks, but don’t expect 80 either (with the rare exception). Do expect to work some nights and weekends to meet deliverable dates.
- The ability to work in Denver.
We’d really like it if you had:
- Experience with video technologies and custom video players
- Experience developing Flex 4 applications and skins
- Experience working with shared "core" libraries across multiple projects
- Experience developing in the commercial software world, including build/release management
We would think it almost spooky if you had:
- Any existing knowledge of video containers/codecs, NLEs, or transcoding products. Experience with Telestream gear would be especially nice.
- Professional video editing experience. A great deal of our applications support video production workflows and that insight is invaluable to building engaging user experiences.
- Experience with cloud based computing (Amazon EC2/similar)
